I’m in a Play Thanksgiving Weekend

I apologize if things have been quiet around here lately. I’ve been extremely busy getting ready for the play I’m in this weekend. This week is tech week, which is both fun and stressful. The show is an original historical drama, Captain John Smith: HiStory of McLean and Great Falls. I blogged about it on [...]

Have Mine Own Way, Lord

Drama in church encompasses a lot more than just acting. It’s more than role playing. It’s more than an Easter play and a Christmas sketch. It’s a way to help connect our visual generation with the concepts being taught at church. Sometimes some people don’t appreciate the dramas done at church. The drama might be [...]

Drama in the Church: #2 Spiritual Gifts

Another fun play performed at church last month. We performed Spritual Gifts [mp3] on September 25, 2005. I’m sorry that the first 25 seconds got cut off, so you’re coming into the sketch after Joe has already said hi to Laura.

Drama in the Church: #1 Support

Most of the drama that we perform in church is not allowed to be videotaped, or audio-recorded. But some of it can be. Many thanks goes out to Bob Snook, for the great scripts he makes available on his web site. We performed Support [mp3] on August 28, 2005.

Broadway Bound

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

I wasn’t expecting too much of this show since all I remembered was the cartoon movie from Disney. But it was really good. I love seeing the expressions that the actors can share. Seeing the Beast crawl along the floor, or pounce into a throne simply brings animation to life. We saw the show performed [...]

Jesus Christ Superstar

I saw the 2nd Flight Productions Theater Company, in Manassas perform Jesus Christ Superstar on September 10. I hadn’t seen the show before, but it was really good. The ending left out the most important part of the story of Jesus’ life (His resurrection), but it otherwise mostly kept close to the Bible. There were [...]

Grease

Wow, back in June I saw “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” in Roanoke, and said I would see another show at the Mill Mountain Theater at Center in the Square if I were in Roanoke. Well, in August I was in Blacksburg, so I saw “Grease.” It was a [...]

The King and I

My wife and I saw The King and I at the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore. Stefani Powers was Anna. Wow, a very exciting performance.
